শনিবার (৯ সেপ্টেম্বর) টাউন্সভিলে সিরিজের তৃতীয় ওয়ানডেতে অস্ট্রেলিয়াকে ৩ উইকেটে হারিয়েছে জিম্বাবুয়ে। আগে ব্যাট করতে নেমে ১৪১ রানে অলআউট হয়ে যায় স্বাগতিকরা। ৬৬ বল হাতে রেখেই লক্ষ্য টপকে যায় জিম্বাবুয়ে।
টস হেরে ব্যাট করতে নেমে শুরু থেকেই বিপদে ছিল অস্ট্রেলিয়া। তাদের পক্ষে অনেকটা একাই লড়াই করেন ডেভিড ওয়ার্নার। বেশির ভাগ রানও আসে তার ব্যাট থেকে। ১৪ চার ও ২ ছক্কায় ৯৬ বলে সর্বোচ্চ ৯৪ রান আসে ওয়ার্নারের ব্যাট থেকে। অষ্টম ব্যাটার হিসেবে রায়ান বার্লের বলে ক্যাচ দিয়ে আউট হন তিনি। দলের পক্ষে দ্বিতীয় সর্বোচ্চ ২২ বলে ১৯ রান করেন ম্যাক্সওয়েল। জিম্বাবুয়ের পক্ষে মাত্র ৩ ওভার হাত ঘুরিয়ে ১০ রান দিয়ে পাঁচ উইকেট নেন বার্ল। এছাড়া ব্রেড ইভান্স পান দুই উইকেট।
জবাব দিতে নেমে শুরুটা বেশ ভালো পায় জিম্বাবুয়েও। ৩৮ রানের উদ্বোধনী জুটি এনে দেন কাইতানো ও মারুমা। এই জুটি ভাঙার পর দ্রুত কয়েকটি উইকেট হারিয়ে বিপদে পড়ে জিম্বাবুয়ে। ৭৭ রানে পাঁচ উইকেট হারানো সফরকারীদের কক্ষপথে ফেরান অধিনায়ক রেজিস চাকাভা। ৭২ বলে ৩৭ রানের ইনিংস খেলে দলের জয় নিশ্চিত হওয়ার পর মাঠ ছাড়েন তিনি।
